Obituary of William (Bill) Thom

Bill passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital, August 26, 2003 after a short period of failing health. He was born in Fraserburgh, Scotland in 1915 and came to Canada 1929 with his parents Andrew, and Margaret (Noble) Thom and his brothers Dennis, Ronald. All of whom are previously deceased. Bill lived and worked in New Jerusalem on farms and lumber camps. Then joined the army where he served in Canada, in the Provost Corps during the war. He married Elsie Mary Bouchie of Mulgrave, NS Whom was also previously deceased. He was also previously deceased by his two sons Vincent (32 years), and Douglas (infant). Bill was employed with Murray & Gregory Ltd. as a truck driver and later as a shipper for 36 years. He served in the Reserve Army (Militia) for a number of years. Bill was a gentle, peaceful man, who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life- the sunshine, gardening, plants, reading, walking, and talking with family and friends. He is survived by Daughters, Carol, Patti (Terry) Goguen and son Bill (Gail), grandsons Mark and Jared and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). With visiting on Thursday August 28, 2003 from 2-4 pm and 7-9pm. The Funeral Service will be at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, August 29 at 9:30 am. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. There will be a R.C.L. Tribute Service on Thursday, August 28, 2003 at 7:00 pm. Donations can be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
