Obituary of Jean Fraser MacMurray
The death of Jean Fraser MacMurray occurred peacefully on Thursday, January 1, 2004 at the Alzheimer's Unit, Loch Lomond Villa, Saint John. Born in St. John's, Newfoundland in 1927 to Frank T. and Clara F. Palfrey, Jean lived in many centers across Canada including Saint John, Winnipeg and Vancouver. She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, James A. MacMurray. She is survived by her daughters Ann (Ronald Cox) of Bloomfield, NB and Barbara (Peter Golding) of Toronto, 3 grandsons Douglas Cox and Kyle and Ross Golding, and brother in law and sister in law Wallace and Norma MacMurray. She was predeceased by her husband, parents and one brother, Walter B. Palfrey of Vancouver. Prior to being stricken with Alzheimer's Disease while in her early 50's. Jean was an active member of the Riverside Country Club, where she golfed and curled. She also enjoyed playing bridge with her many friends. She was a member of the Union Club and the Church of St. Andrew and St. David. At the request of the family there will be no visiting. A chapel service will be held at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), Saint John, on Friday, January 9, 2004 at 2:00 PM. At her request, Jean will be cremated prior to interment at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
