Obituary of Peter John Murphy
The death of Peter John Murphy, 48, husband of Carol Anne (Stanley) occurred peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Saint John he was the son of Josephine (Daley) Murphy and the late Louis M. Murphy. Peter was employed with P.A.W.N. Construction until his illness. He was an avid bowler and sports fan. Besides his wife and mother, Peter is survived by 4 step-children Darren (Beth), Chrissy (Chris Rousse), Shelly (Shawn Benson) and Robbie. He will always be remembered as "Papa" by his 5 grandchildren, Brody and Brock Stanley and Lauren, Brooke and Shayla Benson. He is survived by 7 brothers and sisters, Arthur (Carol), Gordon (Jeanie), Doug (Mary), Bernie (Nancy), Louise (Joe O'Connor), Rick (Judy), and Marie (Allan Keith). He is also survived by 5 brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Elaine (Kevin Ayles), Paul Sands (Christine), Danny Sands (Susan), Donna Sands, Kevin Sands (Dana) as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 13, 2003, at 11:00 AM, from St. Pius X Church, Somerset Street. Following cremation interment will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Norton, NB, in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice. www.brenansfh.com
