Obituary of Evelyn Jean Smith

The death of Evelyn Jean Smith, wife of David Smith of Saint John, New Brunswick, occurred on Wednesday, December 24, 2003 at her residence. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Roy (Sam) and Leah (Ekstrom) Morrell. Evelyn was an Anglican by faith, and a former employee of Hillside Grocery. She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed her TV show “The Price is Right” with Bob Barker. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, David (Melanie) of Saint John and three daughters, Stephanie (Shane), Sharon (Allan), and Dianne (Doug), all of Saint John; five grandchildren: Lisa, Natasha, Samantha, Joshua and Patrick and three great-grandchildren: Kyra, Taylor and Tamara; three brothers, Jackie Morrell of Quispamsis, Roy Morrell of Saint John, and Larry Morrell of Ontario, and one sister, Paulette of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by one granddaughter, Bobbi-Jo Smith. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. (506) 634-7424, with visiting on Monday and Tuesday, December 29 and 30 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Chapel (Paradise Row) on Wednesday, December 31 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
