Obituary of Dianne Lida Sutherland
The death of Dianne L. (Gibson) Sutherland wife of Eric Sutherland of Westfield Road, Saint John, NB occurred on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John daughter of the late H. Graham and Lida (McGeehan) Gibson, moved to Moncton in 1955, graduated from Moncton High School and Teachers College, Fredericton, NB, was an original member of the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra playing French Horn, taught in Saint John at Crescent Valley School, Princess Anne School and East Saint John Elementary retiring in June of 2000 after 34 years of teaching, was Church organist of St. Mary's Church, Waterloo St and later organist and choir director of St. Mary and St. Bartholomew's Church. In the fall of 1980 she became organist and choir director of St. James' Anglican Church, Broad St., a member of the church vestry for many years, member of the Royal Canadian College of Organists National Centre as well as an active member of the R.C.C.O. Saint John Centre, Dianne was also a chaperone for the Saint John Super Steel Pops Band for six years. She is survived by her husband Eric; daughters, Ann-Marie of Montreal, Jillian Wilkins (Greg) of Calgary, Caryn of Toronto; grand-daughter Kaitlyn Wilkins and two grand-sons; sister, Betty MacVicar (Gordon) of Saint John, a special aunt, Margaret Chipman of Saint John and several cousins, one niece and two nephews. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral will be held from St. James' Church, Broad St. on Monday, December 15, 2003 with service at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the St. James' Anglican Church, Broad St.
