Obituary of Ada Marjorie Sullivan

Ada Marjorie Sullivan passed away on Mar. 16, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born in Fredericton on June 3, 1912 to James G. and Ada Marjorie (Currie) Stickney. She is survived by one sister Margaret Harper of Saint John; two daughters Marjorie Dickeson of Hampton and Joan (Royden) Brien of St. Paul's, Ontario; one grand-daughter Susan (Paul) Gallant of Hampton; three grandsons Alan (Deborah) Dickeson of Quispamis, Ken Brien of Edmonton, Alberta, and Steven Brien of St. Paul's Ontario; special grandchildren Jean Ann Dickeson of Saint John and Brian (Carole) Dickeson of Grand Bay; four great-grandsons Hayden Gallant, Connor Gallant, Shawn Dickeson, and David Dickeson; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Neil Sullivan; two sons Jack and Neil; three sisters Gladys, Beatrice, and Ruth; and one brother Chipman. She served as president of the Dry Dock Soccer Club, Mistress of the C.O.F., president of the Carleton Ladies' Curling Club, member of the Board of Directors of the Senior Service Centre, treasurer of the Senior Friendship Games, member of the Senior City Market. She received the Certificate of Merit for hospital visitation, served as Councillor on the Legion Auxiliary Provincial Command, and received the Legion Meritious Award. She was an active member of her Legion Auxiliary, first joining Branch 14 on Charlotte St and she subsequently transferred to the Jervis Bay Branch 53, where she received the 50 year membership award. She was an active bowler and curler during her lifetime. She was a loving wife and mother and she always thought the world of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Thursday, Mar. 18, 2004 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from Brenan's Funeral Home chapel on Friday, Mar. 19, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice. There will be a Legion Tribute Service on Thursday, Mar.18, 2004 at 7:30 pm.
