Obituary of Leola M. Hoy

The death of Mrs. Leola M. Hoy of 27 Todd Street, Saint John, wife of the late Erwin J. Hoy, occurred peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at her residence. Born in Miramichi, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Lumina (Dumaresq) LaRocque. Mrs. Hoy was a Nurses Aid at Rocmaura Nursing Home and Ruth Ross Residence for many years, before her retirement. She enjoyed to play bingo and spend time with her family. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by four sons, Robert Hoy (Paulette) of the Kingston Peninsula, Joseph Hoy (Deborah) of Saint John, Stephen Mahler (Elaine) of Quispamsis and David Mahler of the Kingston Peninsula, three daughters, Christa Peiser (Henry) of French Village, Lanie Sullivan (Eric) of Rothesay and Claudette Kelter (Jim) of Saint John, two brothers, Johnny LaRocque (Ida) of Miramichi and Charlie LaRocque (Faith) of Nova Scotia, five sisters, Mary LaRocque of Saint John, Thelma Donovan (Michael) of Rothesay, Anita Cowie (Ron) of Saint John, Cecile LaRocque-Reid of Cornwall, ON and Margaret Ennis (Ted) of Surrey, BC, 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son, Erwin Hoy. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday only 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Ann's Church, on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at 12:00 Noon. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
