Obituary of Esther Jane Constantine
The death of Mrs. Esther Jane (Logue) Constantine, of Saint John, wife of Frederick P. Constantine, occurred on Tuesday, April 29, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George W. Logue. Esther was a graduate of Saint John High School, having not missed a day of school throughout the years. She was also a graduate of Modern Business College. She had been employed as a secretary and an assistant to the credit manager at G. E. Barbour Company, from where she retired after 40 years. Esther was one of the members who took part in the march when Brussell Street Baptist Church marched to King Street East and were joined there by members of Leinster Street Baptist Church where they joined together marching to Leinster Church as one body to form the new Church, Central United Baptist. She was an active member of Central United Baptist Church for over 60 years, where she was founder and superintendent of the Junior Church Program, a life member of UBWMU of the Atlantic Provinces, also having served on the executive. She was instrumental in developing the Evlyn Gullison Missionary Group. She was past-treasurer of the Professional Secretaries Association. She is survived by her husband, Fred, with whom she enjoyed travelling; she also enjoyed doing crafts with her friends. Esther is also survived by three brothers, Ottis Logue of Fredericton, Kenneth Logue (Jean)of Saint John, and Frank Logue (Jean) of Fredericton, as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506) 634-7424, with visitation on Wednesday from 7-9 and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2003 at 2:00 PM from Central United Baptist Church. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
