Obituary of Helen A. Stanger
The death of Mrs. Helen Aretta (Edgar) Stanger, wife of Edgar Thorne (Peter) Stanger of Rothesay, NB, occurred on Wednesday, December 10, 2003 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Hatfield Point, Kings County, NB, she was a daughter of the late George Arthur and Ada (Wetmore) Edgar. Helen graduated from Saint John Vocational School and was formerly employed with K.C. Irving and McLellan Insurance before moving to Quebec where she resided most of her life, returning to New Brunswick in 1999. She is survived by her husband; three daughters, Ann Pratt (Robert) of Randolph, NJ, Wendy Fraser (Darell Prefontaine) of Toronto, ON, and Cheryl Stanger-Barr (Scott) of Franklin, PQ; sister, Beryl Spencer of Rothesay; eight grandchildren, Melissa, Brian, Alicia, Richard, Gibson, Elise, Sam and Olivia; and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a daughter, Heather Dawn in 1952 and sisters, Nita Melick, Dora Swan, and Blanche Edgar; brothers, Dr. Arthur Edgar and Murray Edgar and a grandson, Jory Nadell. Following cremation at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424), a memorial service will be held at Brenan's Chapel on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Saint John Alzheimer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
