Obituary of Jean J. Eisner

The death of Jean J. Eisner, of 33 Smythe Street, Saint John, wife of the late Alton A. Eisner, occurred on Monday, July 28, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Gagetown, NB, she was the daughter of the late Harry B. and Annie J. (Mallory) Allen. Mrs. Eisner was a Caregiver/Foster Parent for many years, working privately and with Children's Aid and cared for over 500 children during that time and was a member of the Sea Gulls of Market Square Senior Citizens Club. Jean was a devoted wife and mother to her husband, Alton and her children and was a caring and giving person, always putting her needs second. She will be sadly missed. She is survived by two sons, Donald A. R. Eisner (Jean) of Cambridge Narrows and John D. Eisner (Susan) of Quispamsis, two daughters, Elizabeth J. Reid (Brian) of St. Stephen and Brenda J. Whitaker (David) of Saint John, foster daughter, Krysta L. Trask of Saint John, two sisters, Sadie Selby of New Jersey and Auline Roper (Joe) of Saint John, 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one grand daughter, Jennifer Jane Eisner, one great-grandson, Jeffrey Joseph Eisner, six brothers, James, Frank, Charles, Lawrence, George and Harry Allen and four sisters, Bessie McGibbon, Irene Stackhouse, Mary Hayden and Jemima Allen. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday 7-9 PM and Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Anglican Church, Main Street, on Thursday, July 31, 2003 at 1:00 PM. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, the IWK Children's Hospital or the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated.
