Obituary of Henry Meinhardt
The death of Henry Meinhardt of Kennebecasis Park, Rothesay, NB, husband of Royce Olga (Toussaint) Meinhardt, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Tuesday, December 16, 2003. Born in Montréal, PQ, Henry was the son of the late John M. and Anna Marie (Wickert) Meinhardt and was a resident of this area for most of his life. He was an adherent of St. David's United Church, Rothesay. He founded and served as president of Fundy Ventilation Ltd. and owned and operated Security Mechanical Ltd. and G. R. Patstone Ltd. Henry was an active volunteer in his community, he served as chairman of the Saint John Regional Library and the Saint John Free Public Library Boards. He was the chairman of the Market Square Corporation from 1987-1995 and a vice-chairman of the Saint John Port Corporation, a past president of the NB Construction Association, a member of the Board of the Canadian Construction Association, Saint John Construction Association, Renforth Community Club, and the Saint John Board of Trade. He was a charter member of the Kennebecasis Lions Club from 1961-1970 and was honoured by the Saint John Construction Association for his many years of volunteer service. For the outstanding contributions he made to the community, Henry received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award from the Rotary Club and the Canada 125 Medal. His brother John predeceased him. Henry is survived by his wife Royce, one son John Henry, Rothesay, NB, daughter Catherine Ann (L. Ray Smallwood), St. John's, NL and their children, Melissa Leanne, Amanda Cristen, and Matthew Jonathan Ray Smallwood, his sister-in-law Gloria Meinhardt of Halifax, NS, several nephews and nieces. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424). Visitation Thursday and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The Funeral will be held from St. David's United Church, Rothesay on Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 10:30 a.m. interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Saint John Free Public Library, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donors' choice.
