Obituary of Elsie Bernice Fletcher
The death of Elsie Fletcher, wife of the late Eldon Fletcher, occurred at her residence, Turnbull Nursing Home, on Wednesday, September 17, 2003. Born in Saint John, NB she was the daughter of the late William and Nettie (Betts) Bennett. Elsie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mrs. Fletcher graduated from Saint John High School and U.N.B.S.J.. She worked at GE Barbour in her early years and later at Revenue Canada. Elsie was a former member of the Master Singers and was along time member of Douglas Avenue Christian Church and later attended Germain Street Baptist Church. She is survived by her children, Lawrence Fletcher of Kingston, ON, Carol Rankin (Gordon) of Grand Bay-Westfield and Deanna McAllister of Fredericton, eight grandchildren, Lisa Guidry (Jamie), Jennifer Dobbelsteyn (Michael), Beth Blunston (Keith), Scott McAllister (Gail), Donald Rankin (Michele), John Rankin (Kim), Edward Fletcher (Heather) and Joan Fletcher, several grandchildren, cousins and one nephew, Roy Bennett (June) of Hamilton, ON. She was predeceased by grandson, Mark Rankin, brothers, Harry and George Bennett and sister, Dorothy Hamm. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424), with visiting on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Douglas Avenue Christian Church on Saturday, September 20, 2003 at 2:00 PM. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Saint John High School Centennial Scholarship, Mark Rankin Memorial Award.
