Obituary of Ruby Irene Brooks

The death of Mrs. Ruby Irene Brooks, of Saint John East, wife of Emery A. Brooks, occurred on Monday, April 28, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Corn Hill, Kings Co., NB, on June 27, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Lamont W. and Zelma Irene (Coates) MacDonald. Ruby and Emery were married on May 7, 1941. She was an active member of Forest Hills Baptist Church and a former member of Sussex United Baptist Church and Waterloo Street Baptist Church. Ruby was a Ward Attendant at the Saint John General Hospital for 23 years, before her retirement in 1982 and was a member of the McAllister Walking Club while her health permitted. She was loved and will be sadly missed by her fellow workers, family and church family. Besides her husband, she is survived by daughter, Carol McIntyre (Brian), sons, Garry Brooks (Heather) and Derrick Brooks (Janice), one grand-daughter, Lori Ann Connors (Chad), five grandsons, Darren Brooks (Michelle), Bruce McIntyre (Kelly), Scott McIntyre (Sussie), Cory Brooks and Kyle Brooks, three great-grand-daughters, Taylor Renee McIntyre, Taylor Lynn Brooks and Melissa McIntyre, three great-grandsons, Cody McIntyre, Andrew Brooks and Ricky McIntyre, two sisters, Jessie Ryan and Pearl Anderson, two brothers, Robert MacDonald and Clarence “Bonny” MacDonald (Rosie), two half-brothers, Colin Thompson (Evelyn) and Kenneth Thompson, several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, step-father, Bruce Thompson, brother, Blair MacDonald and half-brother, Lawrence MacDonald. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, May 1, 2003 at 11:00 AM. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery.
