Obituary of Hazel Mary McMackin
The death of Hazel Mary Theresa McMackin, wife of Patrick McMackin, of the Church Home of St. John & St. Stephen, occurred on January 24, 2004, at her residence. Born on Navy Island she was the daughter of the late James and Nellie May (Lord) Donovan. She was the last survivor to be born on Navy Island. Besides her husband she is survived by her daughter Valerie and her husband Thomas Cole of Dipper Harbour, her grandchildren John, James and Donald Cole, Judith Crawford, Robert, William, Stephen, and Cathy Hanrahan, and Wayne and Herman Burke, her 11 great-grandchildren and several cousins. Her first husband Marcel F. Burke, son Herman Burke, daughter Shirley Hanrahan, brother Herman Donovan and sister Florence Sullivan predeceased her. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424), with visiting on Monday from 7-9 PM and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 28, 2004, at 2:15 PM from Brenan's Chapel. Interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Remembrances made to the Alzheimer's Society or the charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
