Obituary of Norah Lorraine McCarthy
The death of Norah L. McCarthy of Saint John, NB, occurred at her residence on January 4, 2003. Miss McCarthy was the daughter of the late Walter J. and Norah (King) McCarthy. Norah lived all of her life in Saint John, residing with her Aunt Frances. She operated several beauty salons, the first on Waterloo Street, Norah's in the Lancaster Mall and Norah's on Manawagonish Road. Norah was a life member of Soportomist International, life member of NB Hairdressers Association and volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross and Hospice. She was also a member of the Catholic Women's League. She is survived by one sister Mary Levine (Harry) Brampton, Ont., several aunts, many cousins, nieces and nephews, one brother in law Robert Kidd, Toronto, Ont, and many other extended family members. She is predeceased by one brother Walter McCarthy and one sister Josephine Kidd. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, 2-4,7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in St Peter's Church on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at l0:00 AM, interment to follow in St Josephs Cemetery. Remembrance in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice, St Peter's Church, Romero House, Canadian Diabetes Association and Canadian Arthritis Society.
