Obituary of Florence Ida Whipple

The death of Mrs. Florence Ida Whipple, of 18 Fenton Drive, Saint John West, wife of Murray W. Whipple, occurred on Friday, March 7, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Kingston, NB, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel and Bessie (Denton) Hamilton. Florence was employed with Revenue Canada for several years before her marriage, and was later employed as the assistant to the Curator of the New Brunswick Museum for many years. “Flo” enjoyed many happy times sailing on the river as first mate on “Cygnet” and developed a wide circle of lifelong friendships. She had a great love for nature and enjoyed gardening, crafts and traveling to visit her daughters and grandchildren. Florence loved her family dearly and opened the doors of art to her husband by giving him support and encouragement. Her strong and quiet faith in God allowed her to have a good life despite health problems. Florence was a caring and compassionate person that influenced the many lives around her. Her outgoing personality, cheery outlook, unique wit and especially her laughter, will long be remembered by many. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Pamela Jean Toong (Ken) of Hadley, Mass., USA and Janice Lynn Cudmore (Stewart) of Oshawa, ON, one brother, Kenneth Hamilton of Renforth, three sisters, Dorothy McMillian of Renforth, Audrey Gould of Melrose, Mass., USA and Clara Dean of Saint John, six grandchildren, Matthew, Amanda and Meaghan Cudmore and Chelsey, Mandy and Cally Toong, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Roy and Murray Hamilton. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Monday and Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, March 12, 2003 at 2:15 PM. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery in the spring. Remembrances to the New Brunswick Lung Association or the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family. www.brenansfh.com
