Obituary of John Robert O'Brien

The death of John Robert O'Brien occurred on Wednesday, June 18, 2003 at The St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home, Saint John NB. Having been born in Saint John the son of the late Francis Leo and Anne Maude (Reardon) O'Brien he was a long time resident of Millidge Ave. John loved his family, enjoying travel with a special nephew, John Francis Brady. For many years activities at St. Pius X and St. Peter's churches, baseball, St. Peter's bowling league, camping at Green Acres, gardening and cards were some of his varied interests. John is survived by five sons, Dr. Stephen (Wendy) O'Brien of Moncton, Dr. Christopher (Susan) O'Brien of Saint John, Shane (Andra) O'Brien of Saint John, Jeffrey (Celia Allen) O'Brien of Saint John and Brendan O'Brien of Vancouver, BC; two daughters, Kathy (Gil Hall) O'Brien of Saint John and Susan (Lloyd Sprague) O'Brien of Gondola Point; one sister, Marie Wilson of Perth, Ontario; twelve grandchildren, Tiffany (Mike) McLellan, Trisha (Wil) Morison, Jaime Buchanan, Craig (Annie) Donaldson, Shanell Donaldson, Darcy O'Brien, Michael O'Brien, Adam O'Brien, Jill O'Brien, Colin O'Brien, Devin O'Brien and Liam Allen-O'Brien; three great-grandchildren, Connor, Jacob and Ariana; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline (Perry); seven brothers, Alfred, Joseph, Leo, Walter, Paul, Frank and Fred and two sisters, Dorothy and Evelyn. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Friday, June 20, 2003 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 21, 2003 at 10:00 am. at St. Peter's Church, Clarendon St., Saint John, NB. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis Society, Saint John Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
