Obituary of Samuel James Sewell
The death of Samuel James Sewell, husband of Dorothy Elizabeth (Hinam) Sewell, of the Loch Lomond Villa, occurred on April 26, 2003, at his residence. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Samuel A. and Lalia H. (Beyea) Sewell. He was employed as a foreman with Saint John Ship Building Ltd. before his retirement. He was a lifelong resident of Saint John and served as the deputy chief with the Simonds Fire Department. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughters Rae Patterson of Saint John, Gail Gray (Gerald) of Saint John, Brenda Randall of Sudbury, ON, his step-daughter Lorie Jessome of Saint John, eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Marion Frances (Howard) Sewell, son Douglas James Sewell, daughter Carolyn Gilliland, infant daughter Sandra and his sisters Helen Woodroffe and Isabel Brown. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2002, at 2:15 PM, from Brenan's Chapel. Cremation will take place at Brenan's Crematorium. Remembrances may be made to Huntington Society of Canada or charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
