Obituary of Thomas Eldric Secord
SECORD, THOMAS E. 'BABS' - The death of Thomas Eldric Secord of Asied Street, Saint John East, husband of Martha E. (Gibbons), occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday March 23, 2004. He was born in Saint John, son of the late John and Agnes (McIntire) Secord, a lifelong resident of the city and an investment broker at Nesbitt Burns for many years before retirement. He was an active member of Saint James Anglican Church Lakewood, a member of the choir, served on the vestry, and as a lay reader, as well as Sunday School Superintendent. Surviving besides his wife are his three daughters Jane Ough (Wayne), Sally Frits (Art) and Susan Ross (David) all of Saint John, NB; and his seven grandchildren Thomas Ough, Cindy Ough-Underwood, Trent and Bradley Mosher, Belinda Hughes, Jonathan and Martha Ross; nine great - grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents John and Agnes (McIntire) Secord, and his four brothers John, George, Gerald, and Rev. Joseph Secord. Tom belonged to the Probus Club, Ball Lake Fishing Club, Barbershop Singing group and was a lifetime member of the Progressive Conservative Party. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling, boating, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, gardening, and spending time at the farm at Cambridge-Narrows. He spent a lot of time with his grandchildren and loved them all deeply. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506) 634-7424 with visitation on Wednesday 7-9 pm and Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral will be held from Saint James Anglican Church Lakewood, Loch Lomond Road on Friday, March 26 with service 11 am. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to Saint James Anglican Church Lakewood Memorial Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
