Obituary of Ralph Gordon Thompson

The death of Ralph Gordon Thompson of Red Head Road, Saint John, husband of Helen (Anthony) Thompson, occurred on Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, he was the son of the late Harry G. and Sophia B. (Millican) Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a Teacher at Saint John Technical School for many years, before his retirement. Ralph was a Veteran of World War II, serving with the RCAF and was a 66 year member of the Fraternity of Free and Accepted Masons, serving as Past Worshipful Master of the Union Lodge of Portland, No. 10 and Past Junior Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of New Brunswick. He held memberships in the three bodies of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, serving as Past Most Wise Sovereign; the Ancient and Arabic Order of Nobles of the Mystic Shrine and the Royal Order of Scotland. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Doug (Donna) of North Vancouver, BC and Eric (Anna) of Orlando, FL, one daughter, Ann Thompson of Saint John, grand daughter, Julia Thompson, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, James, one brother, Frank and one sister, Ruth Van Horne. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, September 5, 2003 at 11:00 A M. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery, followed by a reception at Red Head United Church. Remembrances to the charity of the donors choice would be appreciated. The Masonic Lodge will hold a memorial tribute service on Thursday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
