Obituary of Stewart Francis Callaghan
The death of Stewart Callaghan of Pugsley Ave., Saint John, NB, occurred on Saturday, March 20th, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Clement H. and Kathleen M. (Wood) Callaghan. Stewart was a member of the ILA Local 273 for over 42 years, retiring in 1997 as a Stevedore. Stewart is survived by loving wife, Gloria (Briggs) Callaghan; three daughters, Holly Cosman (George) of Saint John, NB, Cathy Day (David) of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB and Krista Altman (Warren) of Oromocto, NB; two sons, Dennis of Saint John, NB and Clement (Starr) of Quispamsis, NB; one sister, Betty Beckwith of Saint John, NB; fourteen grandchildren, Stewart, Andrew, Trevor and Kerri Cosman, Megan and Colleen Callaghan, Andrea, Scott and Lyndsay Day, Karla, Leanne and Christopher Callaghan, Jeremy and Katey Altman; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Margaret Ellis; two brothers, Harold and Maurice. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506) 634-7424, with visitation on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Prayers will be held at 8 pm on Tuesday evening. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 24th, 2004 at St. Peter's Church at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
