Obituary of James Elwood Swan
The death of James Elwood Swan of the Carleton-Kirk Lodge, Saint John, husband of Audrey “Jean” (Beattie) (Lingley) Swan, occurred on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at his residence. Born in Harvey Station on February 18, 1911, he was the son of the late Wilbert and Elizabeth “Lizzie” (Rutherford) Swan. Elwood moved to Saint John from Woodstock in 1955. He was employed with the Canadian Pacific Railroad in Woodstock and Saint John for many years before his retirement. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church and enjoyed gardening and farming. Besides his wife, Jean, he is survived by two sons, Murray Cecil Swan (Gerri) of Douglas, NB and Holly Ellison Swan (Janet) of Grand Bay-Westfield, grandchildren, Michael, Sheri, Bonnie and Richard, great grandchildren, Stephen, Katie, Richard, Randy and Madeline and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Effie “Blanche” (Lister) Swan and two brothers, Donald Russell Swan and Claude Dougan Swan (Genevie). Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Interment in the Harvey Community Cemetery. Remembrances to St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church or the charity of the donors’ choice would be appreciated.
