Obituary of Donald P. Crawford
Crawford, Donald P. – The death of Donald P. Crawford of Crawford Road, Saint John, NB, husband of the late, M. Patience Crawford occurred on December 8, 2007 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB. Born in Saint John on August 1, 1912, he was a son of the late William J. and Sarah (Powell) Crawford. Donald was co-owner and operator of W.J. Crawford and Company Ltd. with his brothers. He was a past member of the Hampton Golf Course, where he had golfed until he was 91 years of age. He was a member of the Hibernia Lodge, the Luxor Temple, an honorary member of the Royal Order of Jester, Director Staff, the Red Cross of Constantine, Councilor of the DeMolay, an honorary member of the YMCA Y’s Men Club, and a member of the Church of St. Andrew and St. David. Donald was outgoing and enjoyed playing Bridge and Auction 45’s. Survived by his sons; George (Johanna) of Saint John and Gerald (Susan) of Riverview, NB, his daughter, Carolyn O’Reilly (Patrick) of Rothesay, NB, his sister, Mary Browne, ten grandchildren; Julia, Matthew, Erin and Brent Crawford, Rebecca Spalding, Jaqueline Barriault, Timothy, Michael, Christopher and Jason O’Reilly, seven great-grandchildren, his special companion, Dorothy Carboy, as well as several nieces and nephews. Donald was predeceased by his brothers, Harold, Gordon and Douglas Crawford and four young sisters. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday from 7 - 9 pm and Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. A Masonic Service will be held on Monday at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at 1:00pm from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment to take place in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
