Obituary of Helen Beatrice Ready
Ready, Helen Beatrice … The death of Helen B. Ready at the age of 100 years, of Saint John, NB occurred peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Lancaster, NB on August 30, 1906 the youngest child of the late Thomas L. and Theresa M. (Leonard) Ready she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survived by four nephews: Peter (Geraldine), Andrew (Gloria), Michael (Carol) and William (Carol) and her good friend, Patricia Brown. Besides her parents Helen was predeceased by a brother, Arthur; two sisters, Theresa Maher and Geraldine Coughlan; nephews, Michael and James Ready and a niece, Mary Lou McHarg. Helen was blessed with good physical health all of her life and was renowned for her feisty spirit. One of her greatest pleasures was to relate stories from her youth about the Ready Family. Her beliefs and moral fortitude were never compromised in her day-to-day life. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424. At Helen’s request there will be no visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Dufferin Row, Saint John West on Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at 12 noon. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
