Obituary of George Emmerson Davis
DAVIS, GEORGE EMMERSON - The death of George Emmerson “Sonny” Davis, formerly of Saint John, NB, husband of the late Marjorie (MacPhee) Davis, occurred on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late George and Cassie (Bowser) Davis. George was employed with Atherton Printing and Wayside Industries as a printer and box maker. He was a member of First Lancaster Scout Troop, Portland United Church, Lancaster Baptist Church, Ambassadors Choir, 30years Scouters Guild. He enjoyed trains, shuffle board and hiking at the Irving Nature Park. Mr. Davis is survived by his three daughters, Carolyn Ferguson (Tommy Lawrence) of Rothesay, NB, Lynn Andrews (Mark) of Embrun, ON, and Jane Mitton (Doug) of Brockville, Ontario, nine grandchildren, Jordan and Brandon Ferguson, Adam and Meaghan Andrews, Rebecca, Matthew and Andrew Mitton, Andrea and Andrew Lawrence, and one sister, Florence “Gerlie” Cook of Middle Sackville, NB; his two dogs Shasha and Makia. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of 4C North and Palliative Care, Dr. Peter West, Dr. Beaudin, Brendan Sheehan, Dr. Archer and Dr. O’Brien, all the nurses and all the clergy that attended. Also Rev. Jennifer Uhryniw and Rev. Dr. Kevin Hicks, and the hospital chaplains. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (634-7424) with visiting on Tuesday, November 27, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held at Portland United Church on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 10:00 am. Interment will take place in Sackville Cemetery, Sackville, New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers remembrance may be made to Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital or the Canadian Cancer Society.
