Obituary of Ruth L. Steele
Steele, Ruth I. Ruth, widow of the late Clive H. Steele passed away at the Turnbull Nursing Home on January 20, 2008. Born in 1911 in Saint John, the eldest daughter of the late George Malcolm and Mary Ellen (Evans) Lawson. Ruth graduated from Saint John High School, and Normal School, then began her career as a teacher retiring in 1974 from Prince Charles School, after spending many years inspiring young Grade one children. Her professional approach and dedication which she gave throughout her teaching career will be fondly remembered by many students and fellow teachers with whom she was associated. Her generous and loving nature made her a second MOM to her many nieces, nephews and friends. She was a member of Saint James Anglican Church. She is survived by nieces Lynne Frenette (Eloi), Susan Keirstead (Fraser), Carol (John) Trimble, nephews; Harold Lawson (Phyllis), Ronald Draper, John Draper (Judy), Bob Steele (Louise), Allan Steele (Linda), David Steele (Sandra), John Steele, Ralph Steele (Nancy), great and great-great nieces, nephews and many cousins. Ruth was predeceased by her parents; husband Clive, brother Bruce E. Lawson, sister Joyce Draper and nephew George Lawson. The family will receive relatives and friends at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), on Thursday from 10:00 until 11:00 am, at which time the funeral service will be held in Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
