Obituary of Marie-Anne Richard
The death of Marie-Anne Richard of Saint John, NB, wife of the late William Joseph Richard, occurred on Friday, May 4, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Shirley, Massachusetts, USA on July 13, 1906, a daughter of the late Alexander and Margaret (Bernard) Gionet. Marie-Anne was a kind, gentle, loving person who cared deeply for her family and friends; she loved doing handwork and baking for all and especially her church, the Stella Maris Parish. She had made a number of pilgrimages to Ste. Anne de Beaupre. Survived by three sons: Benoit (Judy), Guy (Joan), both of Saint John and Alexander (Gail) of Bloomfield, NB; four daughters: Mabel (Ernest) McGraw of Saint John, Jeannette Collette of Bloomfield, Anne-Marie (Steve) Byers of Edmonton, AB and Yvonne (Arthur) McGraw of Quispamsis, NB; one brother, Alphonse Gionet of Rogersville, NB; one sister, Mary Brideau of Saint John; forty grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, William (1979); a son, Rosaire (1956); two brothers: Ernest and Joseph Gionet; three sisters: Sister Yvonne Gionet of Little Sisters of the Holy Family, Sherbrooke, QC, Lucy Doucet and Catherine Brideau. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Sunday from 7-9 pm and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Parish, Bayside Drive on Tuesday, May 8, 2007 at 11 am. Interment will be in Acadieville, NB on Wednesday at 1 pm. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
