Obituary of Francis Leo Harding
The death of Francis Leo “Frank” Harding of Saint John, NB, husband of Elma (McTavish) Harding, occurred on Sunday, January 20, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on June 18, 1931, a son of the late Charles and Hilda (Bizley) Harding. Francis had been employed with the City of Saint John Fire Department, retiring as Lieutenant after thirty-one years of service. He was a member of the IAFF Local 771. Besides his family, the love of his life was the cottage at Iona, PEI. Survived by his wife of fifty-four years, Elma; his daughter, Mary Harding and his two sons, John (Donna) and Andrew (Sandy), all of Saint John; five grandchildren: Rebecca, Eric, Nicholas, Allyson and Jack; several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by three brothers and two sisters, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Monday from 7-9 pm and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at 11 am. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to any charity of choice.
