Obituary of William John Campbell
The death of William John (Bill) Campbell of Whitby, Ontario, and formerly of Saint John, husband of Shirley (Pevlin) Penny, occurred on Tuesday, February 12, 2008 in Oshawa, Ontario. Born at Picket’s Cove, Queens County, he was a son of the late William and Isabella (Brown) Campbell. Bill worked as an auto mechanic for nearly 20 years at Saint John Toyota. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Fairvale Outing Association, and the Senior’s Community Centre in Whitby where he enjoyed playing darts. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his daughters, Roberta (Brian McCarthy) of Saint John, and Patricia (Kevin Plummer) of Oshawa, Ontario; step-daughters Amanda (Charles Preston) of Boston, Trina (Dave Worden) of North Carolina, and Harmony (Ken Wilson) of Whitby, Ontario; a sister, Betty MacFarland (Herb) of Brookfield, Nova Scotia; brothers Tom Campbell (Sue) of Orleans, Ontario, and James Campbell (Marilyn) of Rothesay; a brother-in-law, George Wiggins of Kingston Penninsula; grandchildren Sasha, Damon, Coral, Katelynn, Lauren, Annabelle, Jace, Hannah Marie, and Jayda; an uncle, Tom Campbell of Mill Cove; and several nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by a sister, Isabella Wiggins. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will follow in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
