Obituary of George H. Curren
The death of George Henry Curren of Saint John West, beloved husband of 65 years to Hilda (Shaw) Curren, occurred peacefully on Monday, October 15, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Born in Saint John on September 14, 1919 he was the son of the late Harmon and Elizabeth (Henderson) Curren. Mr. Curren was a veteran of World War II, serving overseas with the Canadian Army from 1943-1946. George was employed with Speedy T.V. for 25 years before his retirement and was an active member of Douglas Avenue Christian Church. Besides his loving wife Hilda, he is survived by one son David of Toronto, ON, several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by one son, Brian Curren in 1984, three sisters, Elizabeth, Marion and Dorothy and seven brothers, Edward, Donnie, Charlie, Manford, Jim, Stanley and Walter. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral service will be held at Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, Ocotber 18, 2007 at 2:15 PM. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances to the charity of the donors’ choice would be apprecaited. The Royal Canadian Legion will hold a tribute to a Veteran service on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
