Obituary of Douglas Simon Toner
The death of Douglas Simon Toner, loving husband of M. Joan (Ross) Toner, occurred peacefully while surrounded by his family on July 2, 2007 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Samuel ‘Sam’ and Violet (McCullough) Toner. He was a resident of Mispec where he was a Fisherman and he was also a Longshoreman, ILA Local #273. He enjoyed travelling and spending time with his family. He was a wonderful father to his children Kirk D.Toner and his wife Sandra of Saint John, Heather S. Emond and her husband John Pierre of Riveview, NB, and was a loving grandfather to his grandchildren Allison, Amber, Gregory and Shawn. He is also survived by his brothers Kenneth (Leona) and Glendon (Leona), of Mispec, sister Dorothy Allaway of Halifax, NS, sister-in-law Audrey Toner of Saint John and several nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed. His brother Ronald Toner and sister Marjorie Toner predeceased him. Resting at Brenans Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am from Brenan’s Chapel. A family interment will take place at Mispec Cemetery. Remembrances made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff, especially Dr. Ian Grant, of the Saint John Regional Hospital.
