Obituary of Hugh Arthur Murray
“In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” (John 1) Knowing the love and light that awaited him as well as the love that sent him on his way, Dad was finally convinced the world could go on without him as he passed peacefully through the thin veil from this world to the next on November 7, 2007. Nothing meant more to Art in life than his family who will remember him with joy and with laughter. His wife Bernice has carved out a home of faith for him on the other side and remaining here to carry on the Murray spirit are Linda and Paul, Joyce and Carol, Sheila and her four sons Ian, Colin, Alasdair and Calum. We must not forget as well Dad’s “other” love, the Church, which filled his life with meaning, purpose and pride. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. We invite you to join us Saturday, Nov. 10th, 11 a.m. at Glen View United Church, 8 Upland Rd. to share our faith and his as we send Dad on his way, reception to follow in the Church hall. At 4:30 p.m. those who wish may join the family for a short graveside service at the Lower Bedeque Cemetery, P.E.I. In lieu of flowers and in respect of Dad’s love for the Church we would welcome donations to Glen View United Church in his honour.
