Obituary of Catherine Julia Evans
Catherine Julia Evans, formerly of Boyaner Cresent, Saint John, wife of the late Robert L. Evans, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home, where she had resided for the past few years. Kay was born at Saint John on August 14, 1914, a daughter of the late David and Mary Ellen (Driscoll) Hanlon. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In her earlier years, she was active in both the Catholic Women’s League, and the local Liberal Association. She is survived by her son, David Evans (Lois) of Saint John; her daughter, Florence Trenholm (George) of Windsor, Nova Scotia; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Kay was predeceased by two daughters, Joan Robertson and Donna Marie Evans; a grandson, Michael; a step-son, Harry; and by sisters Florence, Betty, and Margaret. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
