Obituary of Frederick W. Briggs
The death of Fred W. Briggs of Rothesay, NB, wife of Anne Marie (Brideau) Briggs, occurred unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 3, 2009. Born in Saint John, NB on July 1, 1949, he was a son of the late William A. and Phyllis (Goldworthy) Briggs. Fred was predeceased by his father and his sister Patsy Davis-Bell. Besides his wife, Fred is survived by his daughters, Judy Clark (John) of Nerepis, NB, Patti White (Jamie) of Saint John and his son Tony Briggs (Jacki) of Saint John. Brothers, Danny Briggs (Darlene) of Saint John and Phillip Briggs (Patricia) of BC; Sisters, Beverly Folkins of Pleasant Ridge, NB and Linda Fallon (Brian) Of Grand Bay-Westfield, NB. Fred was known as DA and PAPA to his grandchildren, John, Jordan, Ben, Connor, Alexis, & Jack. Also survived by his Uncle Kenneth Briggs as well as several nieces and nephews. Fred was employed with O’Brien Electric for many years as an electrician and was a member of Union I.B.E.W. Local #502 for 40 years. He was the Past president of the King Pins Mixed Bowling League as well as a member of the Art O’Neil Memorial Men’s league, also being a member of the Knights of Columbus #8094. Fred was a longtime Umpire and Coach of KV Minor Baseball Association as well as being involved with the Saint John Cursillo Movement. While enjoying hunting, fishing and being an avid sports fan, Fred’s family and friends always came first. Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Monday July 6, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St.Mark’s Catholic Church in Quispamsis on Tuesday, July 7th at 10:00 am. Interment to take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
