Obituary of William Arthur Muir

Muir, William Arthur – The death of William Arthur Muir of Rothesay, NB, husband of Elizabeth (Cobham) Muir, occurred on Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Dickey Mountain, NB on December 12, 1927, he was a son of the late Arthur and Margaret (Pierce) Muir. He was a former member of the Saint John Police Department and in later years was employed with Saint John Shipbuilding. A man of many talents, he enjoyed bird watching, fiddle music and had a keen interest in steam trains. He loved all animals. He will be sadly missed by his feline friend, Mac. Besides his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth “Betty”, he is survived by a son, Tim (Mary Lynn) Muir of Saint John, NB; three daughters, Sharon (John) Batten of Saint John, Brenda (Terry) Sevenson of Norton, NB and Kimberly Muir (Carmen Pike) of Saint John; two brothers, John (Irene) Muir of Midland and George (Elizabeth) Muir of Calgary, AB; four sisters, Sadie (Sarah) Robertson of Saint John, Mary Gray of Midland, Erma Schilling of Dundas, ON and Shirley Muir of Midland; four grandchildren, Melissa and Jacqueline Sevenson, Jason and Erin Muir; several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by a son, David. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Interment will be in Ocean View Memorial Gardens.
