Obituary of Charlotte Lawese Bignell
Bignell, Charlotte Lawese … The death of Charlotte Lawese Bignall of Saint John, NB occurred on Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred and Evelyn Mary (Simno) Guthrie. Charlotte is survived by her son, Douglas (Sandra) Devenne of Saint John; a brother, Joseph Dempsey of Saint John; a sister, Theresa DeGennaro of Long Island, NY; grandchildren, Alicia, Paul, Keith, Suzanne, Wesley and Michaela; several great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Frances Guthrie of Saint John and Connie Guthrie of Fredericton, NB; special nephew and niece, Doug and Terry Oldfield of Saint John; several nephews and nieces. Predeceased by her three husbands, Captain John Bignell, Gordon Devenne and Keith Sassiville; two sons, Keith Richard and Kim Sassiville; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Susan and John; four brothers, Mark, Albert, Theodore and Lloyd; three sisters, Lynn Valentino, Shirley Mongelli and Ida Poore; step-father, Lyle Dempsey. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Ann’s Church, 135 Simpson Dr., on Monday, November 10, 2008 at 9:00 am. Interment will be in Milltown Catholic Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to any charity of choice.
