Obituary of Rita Sophia O'Brien
Surrounded by loving family at the Loch Lomond Villa, Rita peacefully concluded her life’s journey on Sunday, April 5, 2009. Wife of the late Gerald Joseph O’Brien, she is survived by her sons Gerald and Charles, daughter-in-law Deanie, grandchildren Timothy, Patricia, Lesley and Erin, one great-grandchild, brother Lawrence (Lonny) McGrath, and several dearly loved nieces, nephews and long-time friends. Daughter of the late Matthew McGrath and Catherine (Duffy) McGrath, Rita was pre-deceased by seven brothers, six sisters and an infant son. For many years, Rita resided at 310 Westmorland Road and was a parishioner of St. Joachim’s and St. Ann’s, as well as a member of the Catholic Women’s League. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), where visitation will be held from 1-3 and 7-9pm on Easter Sunday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Easter Monday morning at 10 o’clock at St. Ann’s Church, 135 Simpson Drive. Following interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, a reception will take place at St. Ann’s Church Hall. For those who wish, remembrances to the Loch Lomond Villa Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
