Obituary of Joseph Arthur Mazerolle
After a courageous battle with cancer, Joseph Arthur Mazerolle passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Born at Richibucto on February 3, 1947, he was a son of the late Arthur and Edmee Mazerolle. Joe worked for Saint John Transit, and was a member of St. Mark’s Church, Quispamsis. He enjoyed reading, and was a quiet, patient and spiritual man. He was a true WARRIOR in his fight with cancer, beating the odds with his fighting spirit. Joe is survived by his wife, Mary E. (Hickey) Mazerolle; a step-son, Michael Raeburn (Krista) of Lethbridge, Alberta; a brother, Roger Mazerolle (Rosemary) of Richibucto; a sister, Mary Spencer (Kenneth) of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. He was dearly loved and cared for by his extended family, Brenda (Peter) Ernst, Wanda (Richard) Letson, Ray (Jr.) (Ann) Hickey, Susan Hickey, Paul (Ann) Hickey, and special friend Linda Kelter. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by a brother, Edward Mazerolle; and by his first wife, Doreen (Daigle) Mazerolle. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Thursday from 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10:00 AM from the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Waterloo Street, Saint John. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Bobby’s Hope House, a Palliative Care Home project of Hospice of Greater Saint John, would be appreciated by the family.
