Obituary of Phyllis Laura McCumber
The death of Phyllis Laura (Barton) McCumber of Saint John, wife of the late Warren McCumber, occurred on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Kennebec Manor. Born at Cox’s Point Grand Lake, NB, she was a daughter of the late Wesley and Maude (Nightingale) Barton. Phyllis was employed at the TB Hospital as a nurse’s aid for 10 years. She enjoyed bowling with the Tuesday afternoon Seniors League and playing cribbage. Phyllis is survived by four sons, Ernest “Arnold” (Margaret) McCumber of Musquash, NB, Warren “Douglas” McCumber, “Brian” Austin (Margaret) McCumber and “John” Barton (Sharon) McCumber all of Saint John, NB; one daughter, Elizabeth “Beth” Louise (Clive) Wood of Sudbury, ON; one sister, Bessie Barton of Chipman, NB; one brother, Harold Barton of Grand Lake/Sussex, NB; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by three brothers, Les, Sterling, and Tom; four sisters, Lulu, Verna, Lillian, Mildred. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visiting on Monday, June 15, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at 1:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
