Obituary of George Henry Hamilton
Hamilton, George H. - George Henry Hamilton of Saint John, husband of Doreen C. (Halsall) Hamilton, passed away on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John, he was the son of the late Ernest Andrew and Kathleen Alice (Green) Hamilton. George was a businessman with a range of interests but he will be remembered by most as the owner and manager of the family business, founded by his grandfather in 1880, G. H. Hamilton & Sons Ltd. He was an avid yachtsman and a life long member of the Royal Kennebeccasis Yacht Club, a long standing member of the Riverside Country Club, the United Commercial Travelers, and was also a member of the Church of St. John Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement. In addition to his wife of 60 years, George is survived by his sons, Gary H. Hamilton (Deborah Rinehart) of Saint John, and G. Ernest Hamilton of Saint John; grandchildren Geoffrey Hamilton and Cynthia Gray; a great grandson, Darian Gray; and by nieces and nephews. Resting at The Church of St. John Baptist (Mission Church) and St. Clement, 815 Millidge Avenue, Saint John, with visiting on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 from 4…8 PM. The funeral will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at 2:00 PM from the church. Rev. Canon Alvin Westgate will be the Celebrant. The family members extend an invitation to join them for a reception at the Royal Kennebeccasis Yacht Club following the service. For those who wish, remembrances to the Anglican Parish of Millidgeville or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery at a later date. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424).
