Obituary of Kenneth Walter Sullivan
Sullivan, Kenneth Walter – Kenneth Walter Sullivan of Saint John, NB, husband of Peggy (Jewett) Sullivan, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, January 5, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on January 2, 1925, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Beatrice V. (Arthurs) Sullivan. Ken founded the South End Day Care Centre in 1968 and was named Honorary Chairman for Life. He was a board member of Turnbull Nursing Home and a former member of the Baptist Book Room. Ken was a member of Edith Avenue Baptist Church and also the church choir. He was a member of Hibernia Lodge and the New Brunswick Musicians Union. Ken developed his strong passion for music at the age of 16, when he began playing string bass, and played with many bands throughout his life. He loved fishing for salmon on the Caines and Miramichi Rivers. The four great loves of his life were family, the South End Day Care, music and fishing. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 50 years, Peggy Sullivan; one son, Glen (Heather) Sullivan of Moncton, NB; one daughter, Jill (Michael) MacKenzie of Wallace, NS; three grandchildren, Erin, Matthew and Jeff; two nephews, Karl and Eric. Predeceased by his parents, Walter and Beatrice Sullivan; one brother, Herbert and one sister, Eleanor. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424, with visiting on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Edith Avenue Baptist Church, Edith Avenue on Friday, January 9, 2009 at 1:00 pm. Interment in Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the South End Day Care Centre or any charity of the donor’s choice.
