Obituary of Robert Daunt Lee
The death of Robert Daunt (Bob) Lee of Bayswater, beloved husband of Frances L. (Ross) Lee, occurred on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John, he was a son of Verna E. (Nice) Lee and the late Henry Lee. Bob was an educator in Saint John for 35 years, serving as Principal at Ketepec-Morna Heights Schools, Hazen White –St. Francis, Bayside Junior, and finally Simonds High School, from where he retired in 1993. An avid golfer, curler, and fisherman, Bob was a member of the Westfield Golf and Country Club, and an Honourary Lifetime Member of the Carleton Curling Club, where he held many positions, including being a former President. He was also a member of the Atlantic Seniors’ Golf Association, and a proud member of the Westfield Masters Golf Group. He was Past President of the Principals and Vice-Principals Council for Districts 6 and 8, and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Bob retired from the Naval Reserve in 1975, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He also was the Executive Officer of the HMCS Brunswicker. A man of great faith, he was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection (Parish of the Nerepis and St. John). In addition to his wife and to his mother, Bob is survived by his children, Stephanie Logan (Andrew) of Saint John, Tracy Kozij (Grant) of Richmond, BC, Ross Lee (Ann Dewar) of Lake Utopia, and Lana Whittaker (Jamie) of Saint John; grandchildren Carly and Maddie Logan, Katarina Kozij, Jacob, Maria, and Rachel Whittaker; a sister, Nancy White (Fred) of Musquash; a sister-in-law, Barb Lee of Grand Bay-Westfield; an aunt, Alice Drillon of Saint John; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Bob was predeceased by his birth mother, Beatrice V. (Galbraith) Lee; a grandson, Joshua Andrew Logan; and a brother, Jack Lee; two brothers in law, Richard McCormack and John Ross; and one sister in law, Ann Peer. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday from 1-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM from Trinity Anglican Church, Germain Street, Saint John, immediately followed by a reception at the Westfield Golf and Country Club. Interment will take place in the Loyalist Cemetery, Hardings Point. For those who wish, remembrances to the Church of the Ressurection Building Fund (20 Macdonald Avenue, Grand Bay-Westfield, NB E5K 0B3) or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
