Obituary of Frank Richey Tait
It is with great sadness we announce the death of Frank Richey Tait of Saint John, who passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on April 23, 1919, he was the youngest child of Hugh and Elizabeth (McKecknie) Tait. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Furber, and his brother, Hugh M. Tait. Frank was a Veteran of World War II, proudly serving his country with the Carleton York Regiment, receiving the Wilhemenia Bronze Medal for Bravery. After the war, he ventured to California to make his mark in the film industry but family responsibilities called him home. He enjoyed a multi-faceted career in federal and provincial government, as well as real estate. Upon retirement, he returned to the city that he loved, Saint John. Frank was a true gentleman, always courteous and kind with a great sense of humour. He always had a story but was ready to listen as well. He will be missed by all he touched and remembered with much affection. Frank leaves behind his nieces and nephews: Hugh Furber (Toni) of Calgary, AB, Barb Spira (Brian) of Edmonton, AB, Susan Henry (Danny) of Boise, Idaho, Cathy Simister (Harold) of Woodstock, Hugh R. Tait of Calgary, AB, Jonathan Tait (Ann) of Woodstock, Janice King (David) of Woodstock, and Jeffrey Tait (Beth) of Woodstock; and a wonderful group of friends. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday, beginning at 1 PM, until 3:30 PM, at which time the funeral service will be held at Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. A Tribute to a Veteran Service will be held on Saturday at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.
