Obituary of Marjorie Eleanor Strong
The death of Marjorie Eleanor Strong, wife of the late Cecil Strong, occurred on June 8, 2008 at her residence. Born in Saint John she was the daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Mabel Evelyn (Dunn) Jackson. She was a member of the Portland Monday Night Club for over 50 years and was the proprietor of a Corner Grocery Store on Winter Street for years. She liked to tease and be teased. She had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a joke. Marjorie was a second mother to the Smith girls and Giggey children. She had many valued friendships and was very fond of her caregivers and will be missed by her special friend Bill Nicholson. She is survived by her daughter Patricia and her husband William Currie of Halifax, sister Florence Jackson of Saint John, her grandchildren Mark Currie and Rachel McMillan and her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brother John Jackson and sisters Gertrude Hartin and Lillian Jackson. Following cremation at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (634-7424), there will be graveside prayers at Fernhill Cemetery at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 11, 2008. In lieu of flowers remembrances made to a charity of the donor’s choiuce would be appreciated.
