Obituary of Glenn Bruce Carleton
Carleton, Glenn Bruce – The unexpected passing of Glenn Bruce Carleton of Saint John West, NB occurred on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at his residence. Born in Saint John on January 1, 1950 a son of the late George Leonard and Hilda Georgina (Appleby) Carleton. Glenn had been employed for many years in Management with NB Tel and was currently employed with Bell. He was a member of RCL Branch 69, in his youth he was involved in hockey, rugby and was a strong swimmer, through the years he was heavily involved in 161 and 527 Air Cadets Squadron as a cadet and an instructor; in 1969 Glenn received the gold “Duke of Edinburgh Award” presented by Prince Phillip; he worked for many years with Soccer New Brunswick and as an instructor with the YMCA Leader Corps and was dedicated to the success of the 1985 Canada Summer Games. Survived by his daughter, Gillian Carleton and his son, Jeffrey Carleton, both of Saint John; his twin brother, Wayne (Wendy) Carleton of Quispamsis, NB; three nephews, Blake, Drew (Lindsey) and Adam Carleton; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506) 634-7424 with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A memorial service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 11:30 am. Interment will be in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
