Obituary of Marjorie Ruth Porter
The death of Marjorie Ruth Porter of Saint John, wife of the late William Henry (Bill) Porter, occurred on Friday, September 12, 2008 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Sussex, she was a daughter of the late Leason and Ella (Cunningham) Kierstead. Marjorie was formerly employed both with City Hall and Northern Telecom, and was a former member of TOPS NB3611, and was an avid bingo player. Marjorie is survived by her children, Gail Porter of Saint John, Lois Smith (Allan Flieger) of Saint John, Brian Porter of Nerepis, Barry Porter of Saint John, Kelly Vautour (Valmond) of Saint John, and Sherry St. Pierre (Norman) of Saint John; a brother, Ronald Rankin (Shirley) of Quispamsis; a sister, Grace Smith of Woodstock; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Marjorie was predeceased by a sister, Helen St. Germaine. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday from 7-9 PM and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 AM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
