Obituary of Marion Frances Rogers
Marney Frances Rogers of Saint John passed away on Monday, November 30, 2009 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born at Saint John on October 20, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Bernard William and Nita Muriel (Ekstrom) Rogers. Marney worked for School District # 8 for over 20 years, but began her working life as a cake decorator at French Pastry, and also at Woolworths. She was a member of St. Peter’s Parish, and enjoyed cooking, entertaining, and sharing her many talents with others. Marney is survived by three brothers, Bernard Rogers of Saint John, David Rogers (Lucille) of Saint John, and Gerard Rogers (MaryLou) of Saint John West; a sister, Gertrude Foote of Willow Grove; a brother–in-law Ted Delaney; 29 nieces and nephews, and several great nieces and nephews. Marney was predeceased by three sisters, Bernita Ritchie, Joy Searle, and Carol Delaney; by a brother, Louis Rogers; and by a nephew, Christopher Rogers. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 AM from St. Peter’s Church, 51 Clarendon Street. Interment will take place privately in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
