Obituary of Barbara Ann Byers
Barbara Ann Byers of Rothesay, wife of the late Robert Burton Byers, passed away on Thursday, February 04, 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born at Saint John on November 16, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Marion (Sands) McDonald. Barb attended St. Mark’s Church in Quispamsis, where she helped out with many activities in the church. She enjoyed playing Bingo, and was known in her family for making the best chili and the best gravy ever. She also enjoyed knitting and playing cards. Barb is survived by her children, Ann Harley (Tony), Mary Jarvis, Paul Byers (Pam), Marsha Byers, and Robbie Byers (Faye), all of Quispamsis; grandchildren Beth Harley, Melissa Harley, Shereen Harley, Darlene Harley, Becky Goobie, Bradley Jarvis, Angie Byers, Jeffery Byers, Katie Cullen, Kalum Russell, Samantha Byers, Ashley McDade, Hayley Byers, and Bobby Byers; great grandchildren Trey, Mary-Ann, Isabel, Emily, and Benjamin; brothers and sisters Kay O’Brien, Arthur McDonald (Jeannie), Edward McDonald (Karen) and Margaret Brenton (Stewart), all of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, William McDonald. Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 12:00 Noon from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
