Obituary of Paul Murray Hughes
With sadness, the family of Paul Murray Hughes of Halifax, NS, announce his passing on December 29, 2009 at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Saint John on June 28, 1950 he was a son of Ruth Eleanor (Pye) and the late Murray Theodore Hughes. Paul was a graduate of St. Malachy’s High School and St. Mary’s University with a B. Comm. He was employed with Scotia Bank as Controller Chief Accountant; he was a member Hillsboro Kiwanis Club, Halifax Chamber of Commerce, Moncton Mortgage Lenders Association. He retired after 25 years service with Bank of Nova Scotia and worked for Canadian Corps of Commissionaires … MacDonald Bridge during his retirement years. Besides his mother he is survived by partner, Michael Adams of Halifax; one son, Andrew Hughes of Dartmouth; one daughter, Jennifer Hughes of Moncton; one brother, Richard (Karen) Hughes of Quispamsis; one sister, Joanne (Paul) O’Connor of Saint John; several nieces and one nephew, two great-nieces and one great-nephew. Resting at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506-634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, January 3, 2010 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 4, 2010 from St. Pius X at 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery at a later date. Remembrances may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB or the Canadian Cancer Society.
