Obituary of Ruth Adele Morgan
Ruth Adele Morgan of Saint John passed away at her residence on Thursday, November 5, 2009. Born at Saint John on July 21, 1912, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Katharine (Carthers) Morgan. Ruth attended business school, and held several jobs, retiring from Stelco in 1973. She was a member of Germain Street Baptist Church, where she was active in many groups, and was also a member of the Saint John Women’s Committee of the New Brunswick Symphony Orchestra. A talented lady, Ruth was involved with a group that entertained the troops during the war years, and hosted the television program “Silhouette” from 1961-1964. Ruth is survived by a sister, Joy E. Lynch of Houston, Texas; nieces and nephews Cathy Cullinan (Bernard) of Saint John, Schani Biermann (Veronica) of Regina, Saskatchewan, Karl Biermann (Cathy) of Halifax, Sharman Johnson of Houston, and Heather Althoff of San Diego, California, as well as other nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by a sister, Rosalie Biermann and a brother, Ronald Morgan. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Sunday from 2-4 PM. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to Germain Street Baptist Church or any charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
